The Constitutional Walking Tour of Philadelphia takes visitors on a walking journey through America's Most Historic Area - the birthplace of our nation. Step back in time to see where The Declaration of Independence and The United States Constitution were created. The Constitutional offers various types of tours:

BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY

During the Summer of 2002, Jonathan and Leslie Bari, Chairman and Vice Chairman of The Constitutional, researched and analyzed the Philadelphia hospitality industry, specifically pertaining to the Independence National Historical area, and the need for a free, self-guided walking tour of Historic Philadelphia.

SOLUTION

Bari Consulting Group developed The Constitutional Memorandum which was based on an extensive analysis from various perspectives including: strategic planning, interpretive, cultural, historical, economic development and marketing. The Constitutional Walking Tour of Philadelphia was modeled after The Freedom Trail in Boston which is located in Boston National Historical Park.

Bari Consulting Group continued its development of The Constitutional Walking Tour by creating an evolutionary Master Plan.

RESULTS

The Constitutional's free, self-guided walking tour was launched in the Summer of 2003. Since that time, The Constitutional Walking Tour has continued to expand it's offerings to included guided tours, audio tours and more.

The Constitutional has become Philadelphia's quintessential branded visitor experience:

  • In 2005 and 2006, visitors from all 50 United States and more than 50 foreign countries took The Constitutional Walking Tour.
  • The Constitutional has been named a "Top 25 Tourist Attraction" in terms of unique visitors in 2004, 2005 and 2006, according to the Philadelphia Business Journal.
  • The Constitutional has generated more than 1 Million Historic Site Visits in the Independence National Historical Park area, especially in terms of helping visitors move beyond the [Liberty] Bell and [Independence] Hall.
  • The Constitutional has generated over $11 Million Dollars of Local Economic Impact in 2005 directly related to The Constitutional Walking Tour of Philadelphia.

According to the Chicago Tribune, "No visit to Philadelphia is complete without taking a Constitutional Guided Walking Tour, a 75-minute, mile and a quarter stroll that puts 15 historic sites, from Independence Hall to the National Constitution Center, and Ben Franklin, in perspective."
